Moonlight Beach, just a few blocks west of Encinitas, California, is a wide beach with many activities to choose from. The name “Moonlight” came from the 1900s when local residents would come to the area for late night picnics. Today, the beach is still a popular beach with the locals. Facilities include three volleyball courts, tennis courts, equipment rentals, a snack bar, picnic areas, fire rings, playground, lifeguards, handicap accessibility and clean restrooms and outdoor showers. Public parking is ample, and convenient loading zones are available, however to ensure you get a spot, be sure to come early during the busy summer months.
